Caring For Your Wig
Caring for your wig is easy with today's hair fibers, wigs are designed to be wash and wear or shake and go. I'm a firm believer in not overwashing your wig. Keeping your wig clean and look it's best is important, but too much washing can dry and dull a wig before it's time. A good way to tell if your wig needs to be washed is by smelling it. If it doesn't smell good, time to wash and condition your wig hair. If it's clean smelling but just doesn't feel soft spray wig conditioner on it allow to dry and style as usual.  Here is my suggested method of washing a wig.

Several years ago I had an interest in making myself necklaces, so I researched, taught myself the basics and created beaded jewelry.  Since then I discovered a lot about my style of jewelry.  I like truly unusual things and non symmetrical patterns, textures, flowy shapes and multipurpose pieces.  I received many complements from family, friends and I would often be stopped and asked about the jewelry I was wearing.  With the encouragement of friends and those asking if they could purchase my jewelry I decided to offer my wearable art as a fundraiser to go on mission trips to work with orphans.

Last week I attended American Cancer Society's (ACS) Relay for Life Kick-off meeting held in Centre Hall.  Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.  I was overwhelmed to see so many team leaders in attendance knowing that each of them represented a group of 10 to 15 people who have been touched by cancer and are dedicated to the fight against cancer.

My role for the evening was to represent the Look Good...

Masks change your face, costumes change your body and wigs make the look complete.  Part of the fun of dressing up is the ability to change the way you look. For a time, you get to look and act the way you dress.  My costume wigs can put the icing on your costume cake weather you are in a performance, girl’s night out, incognito or having fun on Halloween.

This fall farm festival is perfect for families and features crafters including Janise Crow's handmade jewelry Something Special come see the new collections she's just designed, home cooking, petting barn, wagon ride, pumpkin smash, pumpkin patch, games and activities for the children.

The country kitchen and other food vendors are on hand to serve lunch and dinner. Homemade apple dumplings, Texas taters and the peanut butter balls are favorites with the locals and 100% of their proceeds go to the orphanage.

Good quality wigs are pricey. They cost money for good reason- well designed natural looking wigs require time and skill to make. If you have a hair loss medical condition your insurance company may cover some if not all of the cost of your wig. If you need a wig for medical reasons you should check the details of your policy to see if alternative hair, or “cranial prosthesis” is covered.
